another "new guy"
I just found this site and I'm happy to say it's pretty cool. I'm a 56 year old rodder that is better than half way through building a 1935 Ford Tudor Sedan. Acquired from the Arizona desert a liitle over four years ago. It now has a Fatman frame, LS-1 Chevy power, filled roof and just completing the hidden hinges and bear claw latches. I do all the work myself.Oscar

Cool, It's good that you do all the work yourself. Why did you choose the LS1 instead of a 350 or a 383?You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks! I have quite a log of dig photos, I'll post one! I wanted to use the LS-1 because of how nice they run and they are really light, besides I had two of them when I found this '35 Ford. When I started this project no one was using them yet, since I'm so slow at it....alot of rods are showing up with GEN III motors nowOscar

To tell you the truth Oscar, I personally don't like gen III engines in old cars, however, I realise the reason that you chose the LS-1, nobody had them in old hotrods at the time and, you had 2 of them readdy for a car. I personally think that they look a little out of place in a rod. I personally would put a 350 or 383 Stroker in a hotrod such as yours but, it's your car and, your the only one that has to like it. That motor actully looks good for an LS-1. Just curiouse, what's that engine going to crank out? I was watching Two Guys Garage on Speed and, they built a GM crate LS-1 and used some kinda multi coil system so, it had 1 coil for each cylinder, so it had 8 coils, How does that work and keep timing? You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Aftermarket like MSD coil per cylinder runs off a crank trigger. Dist. is replaced with a SYNC Plug.
I like the LS-1 look. Hot Rods are meant to be New/Old Combinations, Right?"PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Thanks guys! It's been a while since I've been here but I'm back!! To answer a couple questions, the GEN III engines all run separate coil ignition fired by the PCM. It's very accurrate and puts out a NICE spark. I'm using the factory type of computer that GM Performance has which actually has been set up for street rods by Howell Engineering. I'm using alot of LS-6 parts like the intake, camshaft and valve train. It should put out an honest 400 horsepower. I have a 383 on the engine stand that I could have used but I really like the way these new ones run. Ill post a few more pictures later. I just got the doors back on it after installing the hidden hinges and bearclaw latches.Oscar
