New member-looking for a nyc shop
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum. My father owns a 1947 ford super deluxe and has recently decided to restore it. He is in need of a knowledgeable shop in the queens, ny area, specifically for a conversion of the electrical system from 6v to 12v. can anyone recommend a good shop? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the club Kalio12, I'm not to close to NY but maybe a google or bing search for car restorers in that area would turn up some results? Or maybe a local car club would provide some links??

Hey Kalio12, sorry I missed your post for a few days. Glad to have you here, and that you're trying to help your Dad with his project. My first thought is the NSRA Fellows Pages to call guys for references, but I think I would Google NYCity Street Rod Clubs and see if you can get hooked up with someone. If that doesn't work come back and we'll take another shot.Roger

Hey there Kalio12 and WELCOME - - - - don't know if you have located a shop but here's something you might try. There are some people that do this as a sideline and do very good work. Try giving this gentleman a call and see if he can recommend someone in the NYC/Queens area. Racers Inc. Never hurts to try. Good luck, meller.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. I did try Google, both for local car restoring shops and for owners clubs but nothing significant turned up, although I was not searching for street rod clubs as was suggested. I was looking for ford owners clubs and for some reason that kept turning up a lot of results in the UK. I will have a second look using different terms and will try both racers inc and the nsra fellows pages. the other issue is that my dad was looking for someone willing to do the work at our house as the car is pretty immobile, but if i find a good shop maybe we can tow it there. Thanks again guys!

I just did a bunch of googling and it seems there is no hydraulic shock for the Explorer. You can buy some for classic cars.
