FNG only not soo new!
Been around a bit and just stumbled on this site. I'm on several other forums but over the years they sort of fizzled out. I like feedback, I enjoy sharing what I have gone through and generally like the "car" guy friendships that can be had in forums like this if the activity level is up. I consider myself a saver if you will. I cannot afford to restore, but that's not really my thing. I love to find them, save them, bring them back to life ie running, driving, stopping, have some fun with them and pass them along to the next guy that has a little more $ and hope that they continue living. Of the 16 previous I must admit I did not bring them back to life but I did save them and put them on a path for continued life. Save the old steel! When I figure out how to do it I'd love to post some pictures of my past babies.

Thx Mello, I have some favorites and the 52 Olds is one of them. It's a crazy story but I found her in a field outside Odessa Tx. The guy was asking a fair price but it was out of my budget so I respectfully had to decline. After sitting there talking for an hour or so about cars I ended up with the Olds and the 56 Pont 4 door hardtop for less than he wanted just for the olds. Original motor, tranny ect. still running the generator. Got her home, put in a new battery, poured some gas in the carb and I shit you not she started. So did the 56 with the original 316. I went through the brakes, tuned the motor, dropped 3in in the rear. I didn't even sand her down, I washed her, taped all the chrome and stainless rattle canned her flat black. Drove her to the local Friday night car show, parked next to a 60k resto job and within 15 minutes all the real car guys were running their hands down the fenders. I could see the memories flowing through their heads. It was great!

Welcome to CHR and it's very cool what you're doing. I always seem to find the projects that are too far gone to make it a quick project.

Ok, I have another little story, Hope I haven't already told this but I sold a 49 ford p/u cab the other day and my lovely wife has agreed that any $ I make from selling parts and what not I can reinvest into my toys. So I go on the hunt for a 9in, I post in the wanted section of cl and shop the auto parts section. I find one about 10 miles from here and commit to it, meanwhile I get a response from the wanted section. The guy tells me its 9in still under a 76 gran torino. Not the gear ratio I was looking for so I told him sorry. I'm walking out the door to buy the one I wanted and got another e-mail from the guy. I could hear the desperation.. he said man I was going to give it all to you rear end and car, landlord wants it gone today. So being the nice guy that I am I went with trk and trlr picked up this gutted body from starsky and hutch and then go buy the other. Get home flip the torino over pull the rearend load the car back up drive 1 mile to the scrap yard and get $191 for the car. Only paid $200 for the other rear so I got 2 9in rear ends for $9 bucks and a little company fuel. Hell yea!

love the cars and stories. you have a very diversified taste.

Thx barb, I still feel that car lovers should be cool, especially to each other. Unfortunately I see more and more people in the car world who have egos that ruin it for those around them. No one is better than the other. I love it when someone calls me to help them pick up a new buy or tow them home...I chose my level if you will, I like to have fun, wheel and deal but I keep it straight and fair. I save the car and pass it up the line, each time it moves up and each person gets a chance to do what their passion is, that's all. Save classic American steel and be good to each other. Not too much to ask...

I feel the same as you and nice score!

Found a couple pictures of a 75 nova I had back in 99-2000. Wish I still had her, I gave her a 388ci sbc with 10/1 flat tops, scorpion roller rockers, a vic. Jr. a 650 and a 50 shot of nitrous. Man she was fun, I also found some pics of my 66 Barracuda the day I found her all alone in that dust field in west Texas. Gotta love the cars man..
