The truck has a 292 mated to a T98 transmission. I put a wrench on the crank pully, and it spun easily through two complete revolutions. I grew up learning that the 292- 312 engines were legendary for having upper oiling problems that fried a bunch of engines. In a perfect world, in keeping with making the truck look like it was a hot rodded truck with early sixties paint and wheels I would put a 312 crank and rods into the engine, which is what a lot of rodders did, but I have heard too many bad things about the upper engine oiling. Your thoughts??
Since the LTD is a 1971 its probably higher pre smog compression and has a 9 inch rear end and front disc brakes????????????
