New to Forum, From South Carolina
Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name in James. I live in Laurens South Carolina. I own a 1968 Beaumont SD396. For those not familiar with the Beaumonts, it is basically a Canadian version of the Chevelle. They were built by General Motors of Canada and sold through Pontiac dealers in Canada. They are concidered to be a Pontiac but they were built on a Chevelle chassis with a Chevy drivetrain. Mine is a factory SD, same as the SS. SD stands for Super Deluxe. The 396 is long gone. It now has a 427. These cars are much rarer than their American counterpart. There were over 50,000 68 Chevelle SSs built, but only 702 68 Beaumont SDs built. I'm ready for the cruise-in season to start.

Thanks for the warm welcome and nice comments about my car. I bought the car off Ebay in May of last year. The car came from British Columbia. I had been looking for a 70 Chevelle SS when I saw a 67 Beaumont. I had never seen one before and fell in love with them. I saw this one several months later and decided I had to have it. It is, for the most part, original except for the engine, wheels and the addition of a posi rearend. I want to find a correct dated 396 to put back in the car and put the 427 in something else.

I realise that installing a correct dated 396 still wouldn't make the car correct but it would be closer than it is now. I want to build a pro street car and this one too close to original to cut up. I want to keep this one to show and built another one to go.
