New Guy from Abbottstown , Pa.
My name is Jim . I live in Abbottstown , Pa. near York and Gettysburg ! I am a Ford guy and own a 1949 Ford tudor , 1950 Ford tudor and a 1955 Ford Fairlane fordor . The 55 Ford is a driver while fixing the last owners mess !I hope to have it done by spring . Then the 1950 Ford tudor is next . I plan to have a stronger engine in this one with the 3 on the tree that it came with I hope . The 49 tudor I am either going to sell or build into a poor mans gasser . Poor mans gasser means a SBF engine . It will have a straight axel for sure !
I am retired as they tell me . I am on disability due to a poor lower back . Anyway I try to do all the work I can . I can't paint yet but hope to learn and I can't do the machinist work like boring and valve work due to not owning the machines to do them with . I was an engine builder when I worked for Ford dealerships back in the early 1970's to 1982 . I still build engines and enjoy building a car . I do my own welding and body work also . If you know how it's done , then just do it till it's correct ! That is the way I look at it !
I am happily married now for 26 years to a great women ! I have one daughter that is married . I also have 2 small dogs to keep me company when I am not in the garage .
Besides working on my cars , I also enjoy hunting , fishing , yard sales & flea markets ( found great car parts deals there !) , swap meets , car shows , drag races and most anything to do with older cars !
I also enjoy helping people with their cars as well . I really enjoy teaching the younger people about how to build and mostly repair older cars and trucks ! I truly believe in passing my knowledge and tricks I have learned over the years on so the things we love about our cars & trucks will go on forever !
Well now that I have talked your ears off , if anyone has any questions that you want to know about me , a Ford or a sbf engine please let me know !
Thanks for listening !
Jim
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
