Walt and Anita brought me into this world June of '46 in Queens, N.Y. Was raised in Bergen county N.J. Started hotrodding model cars in '58... couldn't drive til 17 in Jersey in those days.
My favorite car was Jack Antonage's 49 Merc sled. My first legal ride was the '55 Merc station wagon. Summer diversions in Vermont had me illegally behind the wheel of a '49 Plymouth and a mostly rusted mid 50's Buick.
Convincing myself that I already knew about everything there was at age 18, I left college in Brooklyn for a brief career in the Catskills as a waiter. A year brief, in fact, for then President Johnson invited me and a couple hundred thousand others to join him in the service of our country.
While in the Army at Ft Hood I bought a '63 Corvette... was in and out of there in the longest two years of my life. The game plan now was to make TX my home... and here I have been since '66.
Did a few years as a model/patternmaker, then aerospace engineer, hustling F-16s and doing advanced design studies. Parted company when our fellow Americans decided that they didnt need to be screwed by both GD and McDac on their top secret Navy project. Laid off.
Moved here to the desert and bought my 54 F-100... trying to fulfill those hotrod dreams from my Jersey days... and have a truck to drive. best. himmelberg
