52 Chevy Re-Build

About forty years ago my brother (now passed on) and I found a 1952 5-window Chevy Pick up in awful good condition. We stashed it away with the idea of restoring it...it has all original serial numbers. I have now retired and my oldest son and I are working on a restoration plan. He knows way more about this stuff and has great skills---welding, mechanic, etc. We're not really interested in the "purist" angle of original restoration and were thinking along the lines of "street rod" of sorts. I would like to use the truck when done to drive in my small sharpening business. At this point we're looking for ideas. One that my son had was to pop the body off and sit it down on the frame, engines, etc of another vehicle (maybe like an El Camino). We'd love to hear any ideas out there. Meanwhile, we'll visit other posters to see if that sparks anything. Thanks and we look forward to some direction. Please feel free to email me with any suggestions. I am doing a '49 chevy right now, stock frame boxed and narrowed, air bags all the way around with Mustang II front suspension with 2" drop spindles. if you want to rod it, all you need is the drive train, the stock frame boxed in is plenty strong given it is all still there. i did put a nova front steer clip on one 15 years ago .i know many look down at this but works very good if you do it right . not that hard to make new bummper brackets i did my chevy 20 years ago. never had it at a front end shop it runs down the road like it has eyes in its head

Scott Danforth over on StoveBolt & HAMB has a S-10/GM Metric based IFS crossmember for 1947-1955 GM trucks that he makes.
Plus you're able to use a rack w/his set up.
Bet part there is no frame swap or sub-framing involved.
It's a weld in unit like the M2 and other kits.
I personally haven't used his kit but several folks on both sites have bought them....joe
