Seats came out really nice Wes! Got to have what your butt's going to be on to get the rest of the interior right, you'll be able to work through that easy enough! Now the entire car is starting to get that "almost time to ride" look to it!!!!

Bigger exhaust tips arrived this afternoon.

I like the proportions much better than the first pair and both inlets are the same size this time.

Not much to update lately. Fixed a small oil leak, added a radiator reserve bottle and adjusted the parking brake... nothing earth shattering.

I had decided to wait for the winter weather to pass through before starting the registration process. Fewer rainy days to worry about once my 90 day temporary operation period starts. Wouldn't you know, it's been beautiful here for weeks. So today I purchased my title bond online. It'll be here in a couple days, then I can head to DMV... and I just found out that rain is in the forecast for the next three days. Typical!!

    Hey
I've been wondering how that machine was coming along, weather what a Hoot always does the opposite. So your paperwork close to getting it on the road. Nice hope the burarats know their job and the process goes smooth, they are after all easily confused.

    I can see it now..

    Funny you should mention that.

I went to DMV back in October to find out when to get the process start. I wanted to have all my ducks in a row in order to get one of the smog exemptions that become available at the first of each year. The guy helping me, while aware of the process, had no idea how the actual procedure goes. He spent a lot of time referring to a manual and conferring with a supervisor.

The good news: exemption are available year round now.
The bad news: need a title bound.

I went back a week later, to clarify some info about the bond. After explaining what I needed the lady said, "Oh, you're THAT guy." Apparently, I was the topic of their Monday morning staff meeting. The entire office is now trained on the procedures.

    Yup, I'm a celebrity!!!

Of course, all those employees will have retired or gone to other offices by the time I go back, so I'm sure I'll be back to square one.

Well I'm sorry to say I haven't been to DMV yet. With 30+ family and friends at our place for Easter, some unsettled weather and the small fortune I spent on the wife's birthday present (she'll only turn 25 for the second time once), I've been procrastinating over the fees.

In the mean time, I've taken a couple of baby steps forward.

Made some panels from thin hardboard to cover the reinforcing steel running from the door sills to shock towers. Covered them and the rest of the compartment, behind the seats, with some cheap beige carpet. My seam work is bad, and the color is wrong, but I can live with it temporarily. It sure cleans up the interior.

I also added a couple of bullet style side mirrors for that '60s look. Combined with the windshield wipers, they make the VR look less like a "kit"... and more like a factory car.

Wes, it's looking really nice! Those interior panels do give it a more finished look. Good look at the DMV. I cringe every time I have to go there..............

Indeed looking very nice! It doesn't say "kit car" in any way, but will have people asking what it is, for sure! Maybe steal ol' Norm's answer when people would ask about his old truck that was a mix of parts, "It's a Henway!"

At the time Norm had moved to a small town in Arkansas, so it fit really well and everyone understood that yes, a hen weighs three or four pounds. In the city people would just get a very confused look and say, "Huh??"
