Hot Rods in the "beautiful country"

Hi!
I'm Andrea and I'm 23 years old and I live in Rome (Italy). I love hot rods and any other motorsports.
I like italian cars but I think that there is nothing more beautiful than a hot rod pulled at full speed.
Two years ago I had the fortune to meet Don Garlitz during a trip I made in Florida, has been fantastic and I learned what is the real passion.
I am here to increase my knowledge about hot rods and to know new people.
I can help anyone who wants information about Italian cars and motorcycles.

Hello everyone.
Thanks for giving me the welcome to the forum.
These are some pictures of my pick up, is in constant renovation.
I made these pictures last year in promotional exposure for a car dealership near Venice.
Now I have completely disassembled the engine and I'm repairing some parts of the body.
Unfortunately in Italy can not move on the road with this car, I should mount approved mufflers, fenders, etc...:whacked:
In Italy we have the toughest laws on road traffic in the world:mad:.
Blessed are you who do not have too many problems ...

Your place is very nice! But if you try to take a taxi as a vacationer you always have to check the prices of the driver, befor you sit in :LOL:

If the Italian police stop you in the street with that rear tires...they go mad.
My pick up is a 37 ford, is the love of my life, but for make it street legal
it would lose all its charm...:CRY:
For now I take him to exposures with trailers.

To be legal in Italy, my rat rod should have:whacked::
1: fenders on all tires;
2: wipers;
3: front arrow;
4: approved mufflers
5: front license plate
6: rearview mirror
the car should not be too noisy, should not polluting too, etc.

I'd do first to emigrate to the U.S. bringing the car with me:LOL:.

Did you have to import alot of parts? Is that a 409 chevy?

Are probably similar conditions across Europe.
I'm happy too know that here is somebody in the same time zone with the same problems! Perhaps we'll see us on a big european meeting

Hi,
It was imported from the U.S. 3 years ago, but slowly began to find parts in Italy. For small parts I can easily import, arriving in about 3 weeks.
For large parts is more difficult, arriving by ship in more than a month.

The engine is a Chevy 348, is in good condition.
Now, I've started to restore it: I replaced pistons, installed new gaskets and replaced the crankshaft.

In the third picture you posted it looked like the police were already moving in on you and your car. I hate when that happens, not to sure how fast your car is for out running some of those Itian sport police cars. HE! HE! HE! Oh your running a chevy motor in a Ford, better forget trying to out run the police with a chevy motor. HA! HA! HA!

Fortunately, the owner of that police car in life is a barman:LOL:!
I also hate when police stop me, I could escape:toocool:, but for you my rat rod can escape from this italian traffic police car:HMMM:?
