Newbie from Northern Ontario
Just found this site linked to Canadian Rodder.com I'm a retired Certified Welder now teaching my trade at a local Community College. Married to Diane for 42 years, 2 "kids" ages 39 & 40. Live in Sudbury, ON. Currently own two '34 Fords, a 5-window that I & my hotrod partner (Cooter) built and a roadster that was started some 18 years ago, that I bought and finished. Looking forward to chatting on this site and picking other rodder's brains for advice.If you're not cruisin'.....you're wastin' gas!!

Hi Jack,
I posted a reply to your question earlier, but for whatever reason, it doesn't appear here, so I will answer it again.
The coupe's power train is a '95 LT-1 with 4L60E tranny and a narrowed 9" Ford with 3:25 gears. It's not old skool, I know, but it's reliable as hell, runs strong and gets great gas mileage
The roadster runs a 302/C4 with an 8" rear end and 3:00 gears. This Winter the roadster is getting an LT-1/T5 combo.

Hi Oldman,
Thanks for the reply. What kind of mileage do you get with the coupe? I have 355 gears in my coupe now but want to change to 3.00 to 2.80 gears for the mileage ( not sure what will fit on my 355 carrier. I fudged a little on the description of what powers my coupe; it actually still has the 389 Pont. that I put in it 40+ years ago but I have a 461 Pont. built and ready to drop in as soon as I sell the 389. Again, thank for the reply.

Hello Jack,
I get mid 20's with the coupe. I don't think the converter is locking up. The local tranny shop told me to do a simple test to see if the converter is in fact locking up and it appears that it isn't!! THis problem is on my "to-do" list for the winter.

Welcome Mike.
Thanks for giving me a little side trip down memory lane. I'm originally from North Carolina and either you have a friend named Cooter or you know someone who has a friend named Cooter.
My dad used to refer to the glove box on the dash of the car as a cooter shell. I hadn't thought about that in years.

We missed that last big blow that got Vaughn, just north of T.O. All we got was RAIN!!
I'm on Firefox and generally don't have any problems.
