    Smile A little about me

Hello to all i just found this site after doing some serching for street machine/hot rod sites and liked what i saw so i joined. I am a member of a few other sites but the "active membership" is just not very active on the other sites i belong to so i went looking for a new active group.

Hers a bit about myself,my name is Steve and i'm a 32 yr old welder/fabricator from Michigan i live about a mile from Woodward ave. and spend a great deal of time crusin woodward and enjoying the woodward dream cruise each year.

I have been into muscle cars since i built my first 66' pontiac at 16 yr's old and loved ever minute of it every since.

I currently am getting close to finishing a 4 yr build on my 69 GTO it is a drag car that will see some street miles cruisin woodward.

So far it has a chris alston eleminatorII chassis, dual funnycar cages,75% fiberglass body,Blown 540cid,glide,dana 60,tubbed,aluminum interior and should be a solid mid 8 second car when finished.

I also just finished restoring/building a 66'T-bird with a fresh 390cid for my mother and am very happy with the way the bird turned out.

another project i just started is a 67 mustang 289hipo for my sister and her husband, plan on doing a mild mini-tubbed streeter out of it.

Anyway glad to be a part of the site and look forward to sharing some knowledge and stories with everyone.

    Thanks

    BG

Welcome goat, sounds like a neat poncho. Post some pics, still good action on Woodward, huh??? Used to hang out with a bud who lived in Livonia a few choice summer weekends, but that was many years ago. Enjoy your stay at CHR

Hi Steve, welcome aboard. I'm one of the " old geezers" that hangs around here I don't post all that often, but wanted to say "HI" to a fellow Detroiter. I left the Detroit area in 1981, but I still consider it home. Post a pic of your Goat...sounds like something I would like. Don (North Woodward Timing Association member)

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome i was cruisin through all the forums last night and not only was i happy to see some many people posting often but the advice/knowledge that some of the members here were giving was VERY inpressive. I can tell this site is going to be chewing up alot of my time!

pro70z28 very impressive bud looks like you do some nice work...also love the housing you have in it.

Dave...woodward is unbelievable on the weekends now, every since the dream cruise started back in 94' woodward is packed with old cars cruising from about mid may till september. ON the average weekend you can find not only cars cruising from 12-15mile but a few parking lots that have close to 150-200 cars parked in them each weekend....its great!!

Hers a couple pics of her, they are from last summer so i have progrees a bit futher since these .....going to be canary yellow with ghost flames when painted.

The goat looks really good, and I am very glad to hear Woodward is still alive and well. Gotta get back there some day, last time I was there was in the mid 70's and there was some wicked players around then.

Hey pro z and goat, time is not even an issue when your are building yer own. I have a '72 Ford pick up I just started on 11 years ago, a '57 Ford wagon I just bought in 1973 might be my next project to start on. Half the fun is in the building way I see it, and when you're done it's totally unique and all yours.

But one final thought. Is it just me, or do you guys have these wonderful, intelligent friends who come around and make fantastic suggestions, then leave when it's time for the work to start?? Mine also come back about a week later and ask why you aren't done with that yet !!!!

Building rods and street machines is great fun, I would not trade the experience for anything !!

That is one awesome looking car. Like the smooth bend over the rear end with the frame. Ive seen quite a few of them that were cut and then welded back together in a box type down here in Florida. I would think that yours would be much stronger than those, cant wait to see the pics. when you get done. Is your engine already finished or are you still working on that. I just ran into a guy that was redoing a goat the other day, he has 2 of them one of them bieng all rusted out so he was robbing the parts from the one and putting them on the gaot with no rust on it. Then, he has fabricated some of the nose grill for it because it had been smashed in an accident. When you get done send some more pictures, I'd like to see it.
