New guy from SW Oklahoma
Hello,
I just joined CHR yesterday and hope to gain some knowledge on here. I have a 1983 GMC Serria Pro Street I’m working on and at the moment I am having to replace the crank in it. I went to go replace the timing cover gasket and went to Oreillys and got a harmonic balancer puller and went to pull it off and did not know to use the little cap that cap with the puller and shoved the ball end of the puller bolt up in the crankshaft. OOOPPPSSS...well I ordered a new crank yesterday and got it today and I am going to be working on it this week end. It has a 355 SBC and it’s got mild stuff done to the truck. It has a Elelbrock Q-Jet intake, Edlebrock 650 carb, high lift cam (don't know what size), headers, the heads have been shaved, and that’s about it. The guy I bought the truck off of said the truck would do high 11's and low 12's....yea right!!! Well hope to gain some knowledge on here because I am going to build a 355 for it to hopefully achieve the high 11 and low 12 runs. I just bought a STOCK SBC w/ stock bore for $20.00 but where the starter bolts on, the bolt hole has been cracked off, so I am going to try to find someone to fix that...well enough said and happy wrenchingVROOM, VROOM,...BOOM!!!!
Could it be a 10114182? If so, it is a Gen V 454, 4 bolt 1991 (or later). Hope that helps..
