52 yr old still dreaming

Hi I am a licenced auto/heavytruck/forklift -tech and have been dreaming of owning an El Camino lately.Even a ranchero would do.Have you seen Kevin Tetz on Trucks his site is amazing and so is his ride.:whacked:

I also like all rods even rats,each has its own charm.

52 is old enough. You can have one now. I bet Obama even has a finance program with great rates! :-)

well a el camino would be nice and 70 el camino would be what i would like. i am 45 have to ask OBAMA see what the progam is:eek:

You can probably get a grant for "creative mechanics", some financial aid, three hots and a cot, and government sponsored medical care.........unless you have a job....then of course we expect you to pay for those benfits, for the "less fortunate". :-)~

Thats great, I always wanted one but just couldnt swing it, so tomorrow, I am quitting my job to focus on applying for the free El Camino.

I retired my 68 last year (at some point I'll get around to do a cosmetic restoration)

I got the 72 LT1 Corvette engine put in this one the 84 a coupkle of weeks ago and been driving the wheels off that

and finally the 83 "parts truck" really looks like a good candidate for the 500 inch Cadddy motor that I've been tripping over for way too long. :3dSMILE:

I love El Caminos and will someday own one. The 66 - 72 are my favorites with the 69/70 SS being my most favored.

Here's what $13,000 (US) buys in an El Camino:

Nice restored 350/350 car! Edelbrock performer package, 10 bolt posi, new bumpers & paint, ss hood. New quarters, not mudded, original floorboards, clean! Reupholstered bench seat with Hurst vertical gate shifter. Pop bottle a-racing wheels.

This one is available in California so you'd have the transportation and import to deal with, but in the coming months, I believe that there will be some sweet deals and remember money talks.

Techdog....don't ever let go of your dreams. I just turned 61 years old in December. I always wanted to build a 32 Coupe or Model A Roadster when I was younger. Used to be a machinist. Well, life passed me by and never got around to doing it. Got married. 2 kids, Got out of the trade.

About 4 years ago after my wife retired. She gave me the go ahead to buy my first street rod as you see in my avatar. To add to the dream.. The guy I purchased the car from in Massachusetts had the car delivered on Xmas Eve.My wife and I drive the car as much as we can during the season.

Dreams do come true my friend!

hang in there techdog. I can fully understand your love of the elky. My monte is the same car just different body. Your elky will come. I haunted craigslist until I found my car.

Hi, I just joined and have to say that I just turned 50 myself last month and I decided I wanted an older hot rod. I found a 72 396 big block El Camino with a 12 bolt posi, 355 gears, real clean, not perfect but I'm happy. It's has a cam and 3" exhaust so when you stop next to me at a light you definitely hear me. It's cool. I say go for it.
