New Guy from Maine
Hello all,
Dennis here from Lebanon, Maine. I just bought my first street rod to build, a 1923 T. A friend of the family built one years ago and I was always fascinated. The kit was purchased by a local school over 10 years ago and never completed. I purchased it and I am going through it now to see whats missing and what going to be needed. It has gotten a little rusty from spending 2 years outside but its a Total Performance kit so hopefully it will be semi easy to acquire parts. There are alot of the parts there, but alot are missing and its going to take some cleaning to get it back up to "par". Thanks for letting me join and letting me "lurk" checking out all of the posts. I am a Diesel / Equipment mechanic by trade so hopefully that will take some of the edge off getting things completed. I know its going to be a long project, but hopefully a rewarding one.

Welcome to CHR, Dennis! I'm sure you will find a lot of help, opinions and experience here to help you with your build. I hear the T Bucket season up your way runs from July 1 through July 15th. Bundle up!
-
Thanks for all the replies, I am looking forward to the build and spending money I dont have and have my wife asking me "does it really need to be chrome?"
July 1 through the 15 in kinda stretching it for T Bucket season, I dont think it last's that long, do they make snow tires that wide? :D
-
Dennis, if your season is real short and you can get a good pair of snow tires and some chains, you could go down to the Local Toro dealer and get a 48" snowplow for one of their Toro Wheel Horse tractors. Just weld on some mounting brackets to your T's frame and you'll have the koolest snow plow in town. Probably will make enough money in one season to buy a heated cab for it.:LOL:
Keep us posted with pictures from you build. We oldsters prefer pictures over written reports. Old eyes love photos.

I actually have a walk out basement in my house, so that is where I am going to start. I started freeing things up tonight, one king pin is froze after sitting outside for 2 years with that spindle in the ground because the frmae was on its side. I can see someone before me tried with all the hammer maerks on it, it took a 4x4 block and a nice size hammer just to get it straight. I did get the other side apart and it will need bearing's.
Seems like I am going backwards by taking things back apart, but I need to get everything cleaned up, freed up, and start over.
Master will have to be replaced as it is very rusty and no plugs in the brake line holes
