My name is Jonathan, i'm 25 from a small place in southwest Virginia. Always been into nice cars and car shows but just recently decided to dive into the hobby myslef. Which means i've just purchesed a 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster Coupe. It has a 350 4 bolt main, supposedly bored .30 over with a mild cam. Not 100% sure yet if it's a th350 or 400 automatic. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated :LOL:
very beautiful ride. I am here in West Point, Va. near Williamsburg. I get into muscle cars but I really love the older rides. Lots of great people here that can answer any questions you may have.
Welcome Jonathan... When you get time, crawl under there and look at the shape of the transmission pan. If it looks like a square with one rear corner cut off at an angle, it's a Turbo 350. If it's a rectangle, it's a 400.;)Quote:

Jonathan welcome and nice car looks like a very clean one . One of my favorites since i had a 48 fleet back in the 80's. Keep all of posted and don't be shy of pic's.
thanks for the compliments, the car is solid to be 61 yrs old and so far i've only found a small part of bondo that wasn't just to protect the metal. Floorboards are solid as is the firewall, inner fender wells, trunk pan...it's all solid. do have some plans right now...first off is a mustang ifs to help change brakes and steering. here are some other pics i have of it.

Neat old chebbie!!!! Is the suspension stock now, or did someone put a different subframe on the car???? Got a side shot of it, might just be the camera angle, but it doesn't really look like the wheels are centered in the wheel openings just right?????????

I agree that it just needs a little lowering and some cool wheels and tires and it will be usable for awhile until you make your mind up on what all to do.

the front suspension is stock...it's not been subframed but someone did weld in a bar and put newer shocks in the rear. i wish the rims in this picture woulda came with it instead of whats on it now lol

Johnatthan, I agree with J Robinson work on lowering it and put on some wheels and tires you like. I like to see the 40's cars with the steelie wheels like Hot rod 46. I like that original grill. Don't paint the grill! And don't worry about the paint. Get some oldies music and cruise.

Welcome to CHR, Jonathan!! Great looking first project. Good to get one that has a solid body and a good drivetrain already installed. A little cosmetics and some fresh parts and you've got a nice cruiser. Drive the wheels off of it!!!:D :D
