This is my first post here on CHR. I've been lurking for a while, just enjoying the articles and posts. My driver is a 64 Ford Galaxie. I also have a 51 ford coupe and a 53 F100. Both are projects for later.

and the engine - it's a whopping 289/2bbl/automatic so don't even try to street race me, it may stall in fright.:LOL:

Nice looking '64 there, and it is actually refreshing to see the stock valve covers and air cleaner. Plus, you drive it a lot.........very good. :D

Thanks for the welcome, Don. I drive the Galaxie alot. Half my customers and my wife's entire family think I'm a nut. I don't need air, or FM radio!?
I've read your buildup and I am very impressed. Looks like a very nice T. Your sons are doing well too. That RPU is quite slick. My Dad did the same for me that you are doing. Nice work bringing a second gen. into the mix. Now if I can just figure out how to do it with my kids as they get a bit older.
Signshop, Welcome to CHR!! Fine looking Galaxie you got there, and it's really good to hear that you drive it regularly. I wish I could drive mine to work daily but I would have to get a second mortgage to pay for gas.:LOL: :LOL:
And don't worry about your wife and your customers, I don't think you are a nut! After all who needs A/C in Michigan???? A heater maybe, but A/C? I doubt it. I have it in two of my cars, but only turn it on in the gargage to make sure it works. The rest of the time, I put the windows down so people can see me Smile! :D :D :D :LOL: :LOL:
Lately, it's almost too hot to not have air. I drive it anyway though. Gotta have the heater - defrost in the morning to get the windows clear at a minimum.
The gas mileage, it's a 289 2 bbl, and it gets around 15. I think it would do better with a better tune-up too. That's better than my shop truck can get downhill with a tailwind.

You are painting most of your car in your shop, are you painting the body there too?
I haven't painted a whole car in about 8 years so I'm trying to make plans for the Galaxie...I'd like to paint it here in my shop but, I haven't been keeping on on paint.

I'm getting ready for paint finally! I need some input too. What do you guys think of this for paint? I'm thinking Wimbledon White with a dark red stripe over the roof like some of the old Galaxie racers had. Minus some trim - because it's so easy in photoshop. I'd love the front bumper like this too without a plate recess.

Split the stripe......old school Nascar look. See how it goes from there.

I do like the AFX/teardrop hoods, 64' HOOD FROM DEARBORN $349.95 fiberglass. maybe you'd like that.
I wonder how much a N.O.S. air intake like that would cost, if you could find a set ?
treekiller - unfortunately I have the banana pie yellow 4dr, with the rust spots in my driveway. Besides, I'd feel guilty letting three kids romp around in the backseat if the car were a nice looking 2dr hardtop like yours.
The teardrop hoods look great but I'm on a low budget for this car - who'd be upset seeing a 289 2bbl under the teardrop??
