Old RV
Hey everyone I've joined to get some help from the people who know the most!
As you can see from the title my Hot Rod is a Rv, specificly a 74 Bluebird Wanderlodge. It is powered by a Ford 534 allison 6spd AT.
Here's my problem , I'm wondering if anyone has had experience coaxing more power out of this old mill. With the big cubes I'm sure someone has transplanted this into a Rod. I'm looking to make more torque around the 2800-3000 rpm range. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Doug

Welcome first of all....Do you have any info on this motor to start with? Such as cam, heads, carburation, exhaust, Gearing etc? With that many cubes, it should be easy enough to tune it where you want it to be.

Pretty much stock other than electronic ignition and a Carter Carb, dual 3inch exhaust, 4:63 gears ,6spd Allison AT.

Engine is limited for aftermarket products without spending a couple of mortgages. I suggest having larger valves pur in the heads and turbocharging it. With about 7-9 pounds of boost on a hill or passing somebody, it will do the trick. The 534 has pretty small valves for as big of an engine that it is. The cam limits the RPM band. I don't think I've ever seen a stock one go past 3400. So might as well get some air into it for the power band you have.

yeah basicly but without the"cool" air induction system.
