An excited new 57 Chevy owner!

Hi everyone. I'm 38 yo, but I'm very new all of this....this forum, owning a hot rod and learning about cars in general (late bloomer I guess). I'm very happy about being a part of this culture/life finally. Okay, I'll jump to the good stuff - I bought my dream car, a 57 chevy, and here's a list of what came in it :) :

350 small block by Brown Engineering
700R Overdrive w/2500 stall
B&M Quicksilver shifter
Manley ultra lite flat top piston w/float pins
Eagle rods w/ARP bolts
Isky hydraulic roller cam
492 camel hump heads, 1.60/2.02 stainless steel valves, screw in studs & roller rockers
Victor Jr intake w/ Holley 750 double pumper, no choke
Hedman headers and dual exhaust
9" Ford posi w/390 gear & driveshaft by Jackson Powertrain

I'm not sure exactly what all of these parts mean...I have so much to learn. I've also posted in another area of the forum due to some issues with the fuel getting too hot....they're being very very helpful, this website is soooo nice.

You are never to old to begin, and you picked a great car for your first. Of the dozens of car-toys I've built, my '57 Chevy is still a favorite! Welcome.

Thanks guys! And, ha, no I didn't have to bend the license plate thank goodness. My neighbor came over the first day I got it (before I even thought about it) and opened it while he was walking around the car. I was so surprised and remember thinking...wow, man that's a cool place to put the gas!

Welcome to CHR Joe!!! I don't even like chebbies, but I have to say that 57 is a fine looking ride!!!! Great color, too!!!

As for the age thing, no big deal. Just means you have a lot of other things out of the way and can settle in for some Hot Rodding fun!!!!

By the way, the car isn't near as cute as the kids!!!!! Do what you can to keep them involved, Lord knows there are a lot worse things then Hot Rodding they could choose to become involved in as they grow up!!!!!

Cool! I like it! :D My 1st car was a '57 back in '67, and I just sold my 5th '57 chevy wagon that I put power disk, modern steering with a custom T&T column, AC, and 406 with TPI , and with a 700r4. A cruiser.

I own and rod anything! I have a Ford with a Chrysler motor, Chevy tranny, and a 9" rear end! :D
I also have a Ford with a Buick motor, soon to be changed to a Chevy,
A-Ford with a Ford motor,
2-Chevies with Chevy motors,
A-ACVW Trike
sold my International with a dodge motor.

I like cars and trucks! :D

Joe you did great. Nice looking car with some very solid mechanicals. I love it that you are honest enough to admit you are new to this, that makes it even cooler as the enthusiasm is always highest that first time.

Wow Hemi...you have a lot of cool cars! And Firebird, the wheels are torque thrust (I wasn't sure, so I looked them up on the American Racing site)

Thanks everyone too....this is definitely a family car for us. The kids played in the car the whole time while I was shining up the dash yesterday, and then last night I sat in the car with my wife, had a few beers and listened to oldies. It's amazing.

Nice-looking ride. Glad I'm not the only one learning.
