glad to be here. anyone ever chop the top on a 55 chevy pickup? well any way ive been working on this old truck for a long time now. its got a 78 t/a clip 'home built rear clip of 2x3 rectangular tubing. the firewall has been set back 4 1/2' in the center with a trans tunnel .i fab front and rear roll pan also. the rear end is out of an s-10. there is an 81 350 with an 84 700r4 behind it. the truck was pretty solid when i got it. the cab is a big back window. the vent wings have been eliminated for one piece glass in the doors.will post pics soon.

my biggest concern is cutting the glass. ive heard you can use a sand blaster to cut it, but i'm not sure how. will get pics in a few days
-
sand blasting will cut it(wear it away) but you have to watch not to get it to hot it will crack.

thanks Charlie, now all i need is another roof sectoin and i'll start cuttin'! would like to remove 3" from the hood in a pie cut. what do you think?

I seen that done. I can't remember if its one of the guys on here or it was somewhere else. It does change the entire look of the truck.

something I had not heard of before is to have the glass standing up when working on it: ie sandblasting or cutting. But then I may be the only person who didn`t know that:eek: good luck brian
