my car is a little different than the norm
well i found this site searching for 4-link information, and since i think my car may classify as a "hot rod" i figure i should join because there is alot more general knowledge here than on the forums im on.
anyway, i have a 1987 rx7 turbo 2 (pictures below), i had some issues with the motor due to lack of knowledge on engine rebuilding from last owner, that and wiring issues. so i decided to do a conversion, and me being a mopar guy i picked a big block dodge motor. i have a 383 in my garage, but im considering finding a 400 block. either way i have a steel 413 crank on its way so i will have anywhere from a 432ci to a 472ci motor. would like to eventually turbo the motor, but thats down the road, have to get the motor in, and everything setup first. trans will be a 727 unless i find an amazing deal on a STRONG manual trans.
anyway, in stock form the car weighs 2800lbs with IRS but due to hp and torque i will be going with a solid rearend, i do not autocross, nor plan on it so the live axle is no big deal to me. its worth the trade off. i have 2 dodge 8 3/4s in my garage, so ill be using one of those. i still need to figure out what rear suspension setup i will go with, either 4 link or caltrac (i know converting an IRS to leaf springs is crazy).
i have the motor mocked up, but i may change the way it sits, but in order to do that i need to redo my front steering rack (forward 2-3 inches, down 1 or so) and at the same time keep the stock steering geometries to get rid of bumpsteer. rx7s are pretty small, so getting the block/motor in there was a challenge, but it does fit, just need to fab some headers up, dont think any aftermarket ones will fit without modifications. i know i could of gone with an ls1/lt1 but i like mopar, so i wanted to be different.
also when i am done with this one, my dad has an early 50s fort f100 that needs to be restored, so that is probably my next project.
here is the car:

Good friend on mine is doing a similar conversion and decided in mid stream to buy another one not to far from his home. I can't wait to take either of them for a ride.
