Newbie needs advice on 1951 buick
Hi there... just found this awesome site and I am in need of advice regarding a car that made its way into my garage. Usually, I stick to production GM A bodies and currently have 4 all in various stages of resto. At any rate, I bought a really straight 1951 buick 2 dr in a package deal for an EL Camino I really wanted. It has the original paint, no rust and is all there with the exception of the radiator and a windshield. Chrome and stainless are really nice as well. I was just going to sell it until a buddy suggested that I make it into a cool street rod. Needless to say, I have never built one. I also have access to a 1966 olds 98 (with a 425 Hi-comp motor and T400) and a 1979 Cadillac (Cadi 425 with T400) with all the running gear/suspension/steering componants.
Should I install a subframe???? which one is easiest to install???
Any recommendations on "how to build a hot rod" books??
lastly, has anyone done anything like this to an early 50's buick already and can offer suggestions????
Thanks so much, Andy
Yeah if we have to go changing lifters I am taking those comp cam lifters out.
