First Hot Rod
Hello
I am located in central wisconsin,I have built alot of old muscle cars but nerer a true HOT ROD, I just swapped ALOT for this old 47 ply coupe, very clean all original condition down to tjhe wheels and have a couple different drive lines to install I am really into turbochargeing and have a couple different mopar setups to choose from to install, figured keep a Mopar a Mopar!!!
I really want to chop the top a bit and channel it to lower the car a few inches,I havnt done any research on anything I wanted a willies coupe but I would have had to sell my home to put a down payment on one LOL so this old ply will do nicely
I am looking foreward to any advise anyone has reguarding anything with this car,i wish to keep it as orig looking as possible BUT also keep it safe!!! I know it wont have any troubles with power i just need to make it stop and sterer,
thanks evceryone and any advise is welcome and greatly appreciated

Well, I'd say the best way to make it stop and steer would be to go to an IFS front and for the rear maybe a 9" Ford. With all the companies making IFS suspension I would imagine on of them has a package for your car. It's not the cheapest way to go, but it gives you good suspension, disc brakes, and rack and pinion steering...

Fatman has IFS for some Mopars, check them out. My MII IFS came from Progressive out of Baltimore Ohio. They probably have something for yours as well.

Sounds like a neat project! You mention that you want to chop and channel it, but then later say you want to keep it as original looking as possible. Those are kinda mutually exclusive, can you clarify?
good luck with it

Thanks for the info on the suspension, i ment keep it as original as possible that I wanyted to simply lower the car,( Channel it after suspension work has been completed instead of lower springs I wanted to keep normal suspension distance of travel because roads arround here suck!, and I have decided not to chop the top because it will change the appearence to much and i like the profile of the vehicle but mostly keeping it original by keepig a Mopar a Mopar,I want to keep it all mopar,eng/trans/rearend etc. most people would put a GM 350 and leave it at thatwitch is fine for most people because they are easily available and cheaper then ford or Mopar setups and these street rod conversions are pricy but I always wanted to do this and I promised myself whtever I decided to street rod,Mopar/Ford/Gm I would keep it all Mopar/Ford or GM when engine choices were made
thanks for the help guys:)
