Back to cars again

As far back as I can remember my Dad has worked on some kind of project. Cars were one of them. Money being hard to come buy he would pic them up cheap and work like a dog to turn them in to a bad ride. My brother and I was at some point involved with many of these "projects". I could write a book on the adventures out back doing something with Dad. The first one that really sticks in my mind was a 49 Willys Jeep. When we went to get it I had never seen it and the the small tree growing through the windsheild was something that a 10 year would never forget. Everything was rebuilt. Everything. Candy apple red and a top speed was 45 mph. A real stump puller. At this point I pretty much thought Dad could walk on water. I was still very young when He sold it and I was upset to say the least especially when the guy he sold it to totalled it soon after he got it. Years later Mom told me He sold it to buy Christmas and Dad became...... you know, anyway that was the first of many more. My first was a $250.00 1969 Chevelle. I was 14. Two years later it was a chic magnet. That small block with a big cam was tough. Wished I still had it. For one reason or another we got away from cars and and did all kind of other things together. Hunting, fishing, camping, guns, traditional archery, reloading and just recently antique tractors. Not long ago my brother picked up a 1949 dodge d24 and the fever for a car to tear apart has come back especially that my 13 year old son thinks old cars are IT. The cycle is coming full circle. I didn't spend $250.00 but we came across 2 yes 2, 1956 chevys in the process of being restored. I couldn't pass them up for what he wanted. Dont worry I'm not going to turn a 16 year old loose with a 56 hard top. For now me and him are doing something together like me and my Dad did and and it feels good. I am truly Blessed.
