New to everything
Hi! I don't own a car yet (my girlfriend's Tercel doesn't count) and I'm looking to get some information.
I'm a huge fan of the movie Two-Lane Blacktop and I'd like to have a similar car. So I'm looking on the net to find some people who will be able to tell me if my project is realistic.

All it takes is $$$$.
Welcome to CHR Alexor.

Like pro70z28 said anything is possible with money :), Your best bet is to find a car that is in good shape to start with, Straight rust free body and go from there. Good luck

That's what I mostly want to know, how much money? That's what I mean about realistic.
Where is the proper place to post the description of the car I'd like so I can get a rough estimate of the building cost?
-
That all depends on what you build, how far you build it, how much of the work you do yourself, how fast, how shinny, etc., etc., etc........
There's no price list available.
-
I know. I want a very rough estimate, a ballpark price, so I know what I should expect.
So where should I post my general description to get an approximate price?
-
Here is as good as any.
Keep in mind there are so many variables any estimate will be worthless. It's not at all like estimating the cost of a house, or blue book on a used car.
It might cost $1,000.00
It might cost $10,000.00
It might cost $100,000.00
Could cost more .......
Depends where you live, prices for parts vary greatly from place to place.
Depends how readily available a car or truck is in your area.
.......and the ol' saying is true .............
''Once you figure out how much it's gonna' cost and how long it's gonna take, DOUBLE IT, and you MIGHT be close".
-
You could probably do a 2-lane blacktop 55 Chevy for around $20,000 if you do all the work yourself. It would depend on what the basic car cost you.
-
If I don't do the work? 30 000$?
I don't want a fancy interior, big crazy stereo, racing suspension etc...
I want a fun and simple car.
- Suspension that helps my car corner but doesn't punish every time I hit a pothole.
- Big brakes.
- Big simple engine (maybe a Chevy 350?).
- Clean inexpensive interior
I'm 26 and I would like to get my dream car before I'm 50:D.
There is a member called Twoten Chevy whose car in the Gallery that looks pretty much like the car I'd want.
-
If you don't do the work, the sky's the limit.

american graffiti?
First off i'm new as well,so HI.yes it is posible to make that car, provided you can get a good 55 chevy, and if it helps you out at all,in doing you reserch look at the movie "american graffiti" the black 55 chevy being driven by (Bob falfa A.K.A Harrison Ford) is the same car as the one from "2 lane blacktop" ,just with a few minor adjustments. it would make you ill to know that car was puchased for a song.

Alexor, I started mine thinking it would only cost abouy 10,000. Ifinally got it done and it is closer to 30,000
