Hello from the new Guy
Hello all my name Is Jesse. I live in Colorado and im 31. I have a 1959 Impala 2dr Ht. It was my Dad,s first car and he gave it to me about 10 yrs ago. When I got the car it had been sitting for 17 yrs and in bad shape. The engine was seized, four flat tires, no brakes and so on. I have a high performance 348 im going to be dropping in it. Its bored 60 over, forged pistons, 61 heads, and a custom ground cam shaft. The car has been on hold because I was injured in a bad car accident 2 yrs ago. I will be having back surgery soon and will be able to get back to work and plan on getting the 59 on the road. Anyway I love the forum and glad I found it
. Here is a pic of my Impala enjoy

Re: Welcome to CHR!
I was thinking of painting it a bright red, mabe something like torch red with the top and trunk lid white . I forgot to metion that my Uncle bought the car in 1961 and when My dad was 15 he gave it to him. So its been in the family almost since it was new. Someday I will hand it down to my oldest son. I also want to put air bags on it so I can drop it down in the weedsOriginally posted by Jerilynne1965

and I want to change the wheels. I was thinking of some 17 inch Crager ss or mabe some chrome Rallys. For now though the ones I have will work, I just want to keep it old school style and the wheels I have for it now where some I had on a 67 Elcamino I used to have.

Welcome to the Club. Too bad you're so far away from me, most of the parts I took off my car will fit right on yours. Personally, I think it would look great in yellow. If you decide to go with a TH350 tranny, I have a brand new one sitting in my trailer just waiting to be bought.Mike Casella

Jesse Welcome to CHR. Your 59 is going to be a screamer. Always liked the 348,409 engines and had one in my buddys car 1960 Belaire 335HP with a muncie 4 speed. Did we ever kick ass with that. Hope your back surgery turns out good.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

. Lucky for me my Dad stripped a 4 door Impala right before he parked it and put all the parts in the trunk so Im set as far as parts for the most part. I dont know about painting it yellow lol, Another color I was thinking of is Candy Brandy Wine with white top and trunk lid but that is some very exspensive paint and difficult to spray it evenly where it will get the right efect in the sun light. I just looked at the pics of you 60 and that car is SWEET!! I love the pro-street look. I have the widest tires I could possibly get under the 59 with out cutting anything. They are 295 60 15 and are about 12 1/2 inches wide, It looks pretty sweet, and takes two jacks to get them on there lol one to raise the body high enough to slide the tires under and one to lift the axle

After seeing all the cars here and going to a car show on the 4th Im starting to get ambitious to get the impala going lol. I took my 2 yr old daughter out tonight and we started working on polishing the rims and all of the stainless steel on it
. I think im going to do a little to it each day. Every little bit helps
