Greetings all. I was looking for some tech advice for my car and apparently I found the right place. Figured maybe I should join the club and reveal some details about me.

My name is Paul Banta. My family and I live in the Pacific Northwest. Bremerton Washington to be specific. My wife and I have been married 13 years and have 3 kids; ages 11, 8 and 6.

I am an officer in the Navy and have been serving for over 15 years, and am currently stationed on the USS JOHN C. STENNIS aircraft carrier. I rode submarines as an enlisted man for 10 years then got commissioned and went surface a couple years ago. We are moving to Hawaii next year and are very excited about the whole thing.

My car:
1965 Chevy II Nova 2 door. I am the 3rd owner and have owned the car for about 8 years, most of which have been spent in the garage. The car went through a frame up resto about 15 years ago and sat under a tarp in a garage after that. I bought it from a guy I worked with, ripped out the straight 6 and put a 350 in it. I wasn't satisfied so I had a 383 stroker built.
Other stuff: flat top forged pistons, Double hump "fuelie" heads with 202/160 stainless valves and some minor homebrew port work. Harland Sharp roller rockers. Lunati cam 272 dur. 480 lift. Fluidampr balancer, Holley 650 D.P. on a Torker II intake. HEI ignition. Hooker headers coated by Jet Hot through Hooker Turbo mufflers. Warmed over Turbo 350 transmission with 9" Daeco 3000 stall converter. 10 bolt rearend with Richmond 3.73 posi-trac unit.
I also added disc brakes to the front (boy, was THAT worth the money) and a polyeurathane bushing kit, new gas tank and other minor mechanical stuff.

The body is straight give one minor ding right by the passenger headlight where someone brushed the side of a garage. The inside is done except for a door panel and glove box. The outside is not done, but I hope to get that done this summer.

As you may have figured out from my user name, I love to play golf. I have been playing for over 20 years and should be better than I am (but aren't we all). I am also the drummer in a rock/blues band with some guys from my ship. My kids take up most of my time, but now that school is out and baseball season is over, I have time for other things!!

I look forward to being part of this community and being able to pick the brains of people that may otherwise charge you money for it. Hopefully I can contribute a fraction of what I take away.

If you are ever in the Seattle area, look me up.
