Hello all, another new user here.
I am currently working on a 49 Ford F1 that has Caddy power (500ci) and a turbo 400 trans. I've adpated power steering from an early 80's Toyota 4x4, mounted in front of the axle. A 9" rearend from a 60 Ford F100. Disc brakes in the front. Numerous other parts from numerous other donors so that the truck is starting to resemble a Johnny Cash song. I have just completed the majority of the fabrication and have taken the truck around the block under its own power. I guess its time to tear it all back apart and clean and paint.

What are peoples thoughts on boxing the frame??

I would box the frame on your F-1 as that caddy engine has alot of torque. It sounds like a neat project your putting together. Post some pictures when your finished.

Yeah,,Box that frame,,,,,and that sounds like one cool machine you goot there.

That Caddy engine does have quite a bit of torgue. Since I have to take it all back apart I guess boxing the frame won't be that much of a problem.

Here is a pic of my first trip around the block. Pay not attention to the redneck fuel tank on the cowl or the PVC upper radiator hose. this was late Sunday afternoon and the pats store were closed. I have since installed a fuel tank out of a mid 80's Blazer and have a real radiator hose.

I'm glad you got a kick out of the fuel tank. What can I say....sometimes the redneck part of me just sneaks out...lol

I did manage to install a real fuel tank recently( I have attached a couple of pics) which was my last major hurdle (not counting bodywork) before taking it all apart and cleaning and painting things.
A friend of mine donated a fuel tank from a mid 80's Blazer that I mounted behind the rear axle. The Blazer tank worked out real well and in my opinion is a better fit than the early Mustang tanks that is usually suggested for these trucks. Plus I can run the filler tube outside the frame instead of having it poke through the middle of the bed floor.

Like most others here I don't have a huge budget for my project....but if I could just get the kids to quit eating........
