Hello
New guy checking in from NY. Im young(23) and started off in the car scene before I was out of diapers by going to car shows and events with my dad. After he passed when I was 9 and my mom sold all of his cars I had no contact with the car scene until about 3 years ago. I bought a 98 Chevy Cavalier Z24 and got into the sport compact scene pretty deep. Now due to new emissions laws and an old love for older cars I have found myself in the muscle car and V8 scene. I currently have 3 main vehichles, my Cavalier, a 1981 Camaro(major project) and a 82 Chevy K20 3/4 ton. MY K20 is currently in the process of swapping out the knocking 350 with a 327 that dosnt knock. I guess thats about it for now. Hope to get to know everyone and I hope that peaple dont get annoyed with my questions, I will have alot

Welcome ny street scene to CHR. I'm not to far north of you probably about 30 - 40 miles. Whats the matter with the 350? Bad rod, piston. Always loved the 327. What year is it?Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Really I dont know whats wrong with the 350, maybe bearing or something, not to famaliar with knocks but I do know its coming from the bottom end. The 327 I know nothing about. It was sold to me with the belief that it was a 350. After taking it home I had to swap heads due to a spark plug casing getting stuck in one. I happened to measure the bore and stroke when the heads were off and to my surprise it was a 327 ! I tried looking up the vin on the net but the vin on the rear of the block has casting distortion and the vin by the front of the pass side head dosnt seem to match anything I can find.

I was debating on dropping the 327 in it or rebuilding the 4 bolt main 350 that came out of the K20. I would love to make it a hopper but then again I also like my RPM's and would like to put the 327 in it. I live alot closer to a 1/8 mile track than a quarter so probably end up with the 350. Tough decision so well see what time brings.

The car currently has the front clip off and I plan on starting some major body work this spring.

Looks like you have a nice project to work on. Good luck with your racing. I didn't know they had a 1/8 mile strip down your way. Have to stop down and make some runs.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I wish we would get some more snow down here. Just finishing up my 4 wheel drive K20 and looking to have fun in the snow with it. Currently driving a 90ish ford ranger and it is terrable in the snow

".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
