Oh no, you said those two words that are so hated here "rat rod", prepare to take flak from about everyone.
Oh and btw, welcome. Ive always liked the chevs cab design.
rat_rod35 welcome to CHR I have no problem with them there rat rod I my self just not into them I like shinny paint and with that said it doesn't make any one person any better then thee other as long as you like it then the hello with every one els
Welcome to CHR Rat.........
I'm not a rat rod type either. If you like em' by all means build em'. As long as they don't pose any safety issues for others on the same road, I think they're just fine. Personally I'm most taken by the inventiveness that goes into a project. Any project. I like the car that when looked at someone might say ''HHHHHMMMMM why didn't i think of doing it that way?'' That means more to me than what "name" it's labeled as.
Live and let live. Diversity is what makes the hobby what it is. :)
Welcome to the club.
Welcome to CHR, Rat. I don't really think there are many people here who hate rat rods. What lots of us don't like is being told that we don't have "real hot rods" because we have shiny paint and don't take em out on the road til they're done. Plenty of room in the world of hot rodding for all types of cars. Personally, I think classifying cars to any particular type is a bunch of bs. A hot rod is just taking what ya got and building what ya want, putting labels on them is just like stereotyping anything or anyone, all it will do is cause a bunch of hate and dissension. So anyhow, welcome to CHR, if you like your car, then it's kewl.
Rat Rods are great as any other and fun too.
I hope the rest of your build goes well.
I will be in limbo for a while with my 50 chevy p/u
I will drive it primer for a while im sure but will be updating all the gauges and electrical and all that
Later
Dave I agree with you completely. I came into this with the wrong attitude. Hot rods are just that, rods. To each their own and have fun with them.
"Rat Rod" . . . . . .Slowly I turn, step by step . . . . . .
Well, I didn't know you posted one of these but welcome to CHR.
You will enjoy it here a lot even if there aren't many rat rodders here. I like rat rods but don't have one and my project I am building now won't be a rat rod. The style of todays rat rods are pretty cool though. I gotta question though about rat rods since we are basically on the subject. You know how people build rat rods like they had back then or wan't it like that and try to keep it like it was back then, well why do they do that when back then the people didn't have a choice and they would wish their cars weren't like that and were much nicer with shinier paint? Hard to explain my question but I think some of you may get what I am trying to say and ask.
FMX, back in the old days, hotrods were made to be faster, there were also few laws for safty restrictions, they started hackin' anything that didn't need to be and getting rid of it, many times, interiors, brakes ( who needed them back then, no laws agens't not using brakes ), this is essentely how hotrodding got started, people started hacking the old cars up to make them lighter and theoreticly go faster. 1 of the first hotrods, if not the first known hotrod was a Model T Bucket, which is a model T coupe that's had the roof cut off at the beltline ( now the aftermarket makes fiberglass and steel reproduction T bucket bodies). ( think that's what it's called ), then a big engine was installed. The choppers were born the same way, lighter faster, better rule applied, people hacked up old harlys. The truth is, they actully wanted there cars like this cause, they wanted the lighter faster and quickest cars to win street races.
Thanks for the info Matt, that isn't what I really mean't but heh that works. lol
welcome rat_rod35, to each his own, it dont make no dif. what it looks like, but if it goes on the road it needs to be safe.
My truck is done right. I don't want my 70 year old truck flyin apart when I'm goin down the road. I'm too young to die :D
I was afraid I'd be the only ratrodder on board. I build ratrods, all I ever built was ratrods, I can't paint, don't have the patience to polish and I can't afford billit either. But my ratrod has four wheel disc brakes , mufflers and radial tires. No AC or dumb radio. Anybody wanna race?
Welcome Rat rod 35. If it's a chevy truck it can be whatever you want it to be, although I must admit I like all trucks.:D:D
Welcome To CHR Rat Rod.
welcome fellow rat rodder.
i like them all shiny flat or even ugly and different.
were all her because we like cars trucks, and anything with wheels and a engine.
i wouldnt want it any other way or else we would all be driving cookie cutter cars that would look the same and we wouldnt care at all about it.
