Still won't run guys, need help!

Ok, in my previous thread here I was asking about fuel. Since then I have solved the fuel problem but it wouldn't start.
Plugs and points where SHOT, distributor worn so I replaced the distributor and tuned it up. Still won't start, couldn't get it to time. So, I installed a new timing chain, brought #1 up and everything lined up so I know thats correct and put it back together. Still won't start.
Starter is dragging so I had the starter rebuilt and bought a new battery. Still won't start.
I have spark from the coil, I have spark at every spark plug. I have good fuel pump pressure and the carb is working good, plenty of gas. It is not backfiring or coughing or spitting or anything, just turning over.

I am very open for suggestions.

Could it be possible that I may have the distributor off, say like a tooth or two? I know Chevy's and they are either in or 180 out and the engine lets you know. This one has me stumped.:HMMM: :whacked: :CRY: :(

Ya, I used the drivers side for #1 and I played alittle more and it act's like it wants to start with the distributor all the way clockwize againest the firewall, barely wants to turn with it way forward . Sounds like it's timing but I wouldn't think it's 180 out. Is it possible to move it a tooth or two with out loosing the drive notch? Anyone have any idea what the points setting is on that car (66 Fury 318), I have them set at 28, may not be right.

The biggest problem with the car is that it doesn't have a bowtie on it!!!:D :D

I appreciate the help guys, we have our club's spring cruise saturday and I would hate to miss it.

Sounds to me like you are almost there. Obviously you can not turn it any further in the clockwise rotation, so how about moving the wires on the cap in the clockwise rotation. Move each one by one position. In this way you will have more room to play. So, take note of where your number one wire is now, move it clockwise by one termnal, along with all the other wires, then turn the distributor counterclockwise so that it is almost to the point where it is right now. Not sure but 28 sounds alittle big I think it should be closer to 16 or 18 ............ Just checked the book they should be 16

16 wow! Ok, that may be some of it. I will move the wires over one hole and reset the points and we'll see what happens.

Hey Brickman- the setting is a tad less than the thickness of yer trowel. :LOL:....Just kidding --40 years of construction/ could not resist. Wish you well and hope you make the Spring Cruise. :)

The "Moving the wires one hole" and resetting the points to the correct setting did it guys!! Many thanks, I am forever in all of your debt's!!

The car pur's like a kitten with warm milk and I am off to the spring run to 56 Ark. on some of the most crooked scenic roads that exist in the states..

Hey Brickman what did you do to fix the fuel problem? It sounds like the same problem I am having and it is driving me nuts.
