I traded for a 1974 dart with a 1973 360 ,previous owner knew nothing about the engine other than it was rebuilt everything stock except performance cam,(size unknown) edelbrock LD4B intake, edebrock 1407 carb. ,727 trans.(stock converter),355 gears. Engine sounds good, sounds like fairly large cam (rough idle) . When driving (no low end power) runs fairly good mid and high RPM. Where should I start ?
probably by draining oil and coolant----
those were some of the worst smog years with restricted everything, low compression(if any) when they were doing everything possible to for emissions before the cat exhaust came out
I don't remember the exact number, but as an example, Ford s 460 powered cars went from like 70 some emission items to around 12---check valves, solenoids,vacume this,that, timing retards , egr, air pump
If you want performance---you will need parts near the specs of the late 60 early 70 (pre smog) era
TA or W2 type stuff, good headers/exhaust,intake/carb

Cancelled three races 12th, 13th and 14th so we could completely scrape the track down to bare concrete and start back with it. Had Friday Nite Drags last night and a couple of 9 second cars went staight without lifting on a cold track. I know that's not sayin' much compared to an alcohol or fuel car gettin' down, but it's a start. **)
As far as me bein' up, Sharon went to New Orleans to gamble, so I'm in charge of the dog. She's 14, diabetic, blind and has joint problems, so I have to get up regularly at 7AM to feed her and give her shots. We just can't deal with puttin' her down.:(
