I have a 904 trans in my A-Body Plymouth. To my understanding it's what is called a "short shaft" 904 as refering to the output shaft and tail housing length. What I would like to know is, first, what the internal differences would be between the short and long shaft trans', if any? And also, what vehicles came factory with the short shaft 904?

I bought my duster, originally a slant 6, 3speed on the floor car that had been converted to a V8. I've been slowly redoing the bogus swap job replacing parts, brackets, etc... with the correct stuff. The driveline was too long when I bought the car (was hammered all the way into the tranny) so I pulled it out and had the driveline shortened and balanced. Costed me a bit $$$ so I was hoping to find another trans to rebuild as a spare.
Thanks ahead of time
