Mopar 400ci questions??
Hello.
Are the 76 400ci motors from thee old police interceptors any good? Are they worth a crap to rebuild? Any ideas on horsepower numbers from the factory on these? Tnx, HGIm not real smart, but I can lift heavy things.

This is from the dark ages........................emissions control at it's infancy. Low compression, low horsepower, probably around 200 at factory rating.
Of course, you could run it through that desk top dyno program the kid on the 283 thread used.............probably get about 400 that way!!!!Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Actually for the latter style B style Chrysler engine they are not all that bad (heads flow well and respond to pocket porting like the rest of the latter B/RB heads). It does have a cast crank and if you go the stroker route (basically using an RB crank and custom pistons) makes a heck of a motor. Otherwise, like Bob says, loose the emissions crap and use the standard MOPAR B/RB hop up parts.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
