I had this same issue with an old Buick once. When i go to start the car on occasion it will not turn over, just click once. I have a console shifter and have found that I will have to apply pressure to it in Park or move it to Neutral in order for it to catch and turn over.

Has any one ever had this problem? If so, what is the cause and how easy is it to fix?"Now bring me those cheese sandwich appetizers you talked me out of."

Adjust (check wiring/connections too) or replace your neutral start switch.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

I have the same problem with the Olds. I just ignore it, but its related to the shifter mechanism itself. If you have a bent rod or one of those stupid rubber bushings shot, this'll happen. Just go through it, and you'l find something. Otherwise, its the NSS.Right engine, Wrong Wheels
