    console shft starting problem

     



    I had this same issue with an old Buick once. When i go to start the car on occasion it will not turn over, just click once. I have a console shifter and have found that I will have to apply pressure to it in Park or move it to Neutral in order for it to catch and turn over.

    Has any one ever had this problem? If so, what is the cause and how easy is it to fix?

    Adjust (check wiring/connections too) or replace your neutral start switch.

    I have the same problem with the Olds. I just ignore it, but its related to the shifter mechanism itself. If you have a bent rod or one of those stupid rubber bushings shot, this'll happen. Just go through it, and you'l find something. Otherwise, its the NSS.

    Where exactly would i find the stupid little bushing? underneath the car or inside the console?
