Show Quality 1933 Ford hi-boy Roadster
Built by Hollywood Hotrods in Santa Monica in 1999. This car has all the best of the best components and is rare in its configuration. Most Ford hotrod's you will find have Chevy motors. Mine has a full tilt 351W Crate motor from Ford motorsports tuned to about 425HP with a polished manifold and a Weber 4V Carb. THIS CAR SOUNDS MEAN!!! Polished Billet accessories are all over this motor as well. Another unique feature is the World Class T-5 5-speed overdive manual transmission. MOST hotrods have "sissy automatic" transmissions. Let's face it - when you have a motor like this - one likes to be able to control the shift points - besides - I just like to shift (I'm still under 50 years of age...... well OK I'm 49!!!) Last but not least is the rear end - MOST hotrods have live axle 9 inch Ford rear ends...... this one has a FULLY INDEPENDANT CORVETTE POSI REAR with 3.73 gears! The front end is a fully independant CHROME KUGEL unit as well - and with the 4-wheel Willwood disc brakes and all chrome coil overs and Bilstien shocks all around - it handles, rides and stop better than anything in the hotrod genre you'll find as well.
The car's fit an finish are impeccable with House of Color "Plum Crazy" main color with 4-color flames. The entire frame is powder couted with the body color. The main body is glass but the entire hood and front end are all steel.
The wheels are Budnik's Billett. 15" front with Pirelli tires and HUGE 18" on the rear with SUPER BIG Pirelli Scorpion Radial Tires.
I just had the interior redone by one of the best shops on the West Coast with commerical quality brandywine colored tweed cloth.
The car has a fantastic sound system and 10-disc CD unit in the trunk with about 1000 watts of power and HUGE speakers behind the seats. All electric trunk with remote keyfob and Purple neon courtesy lighting in the passenger compartment and engine bay for shows.
I took 3rd place at the prestigious Forest Grove Concours D'Elegance this year against some "trailered" mega-dollar hotrods.

I drive this car on nice days - but you'd think it was a trailer queen the way I keep it!
Click on the little camera to the left of the page to see my entire photo gallery on this car. You can reach me ( Tim Mackey) in Portland, OR at 503-348-1957
The car has about 6,000 actual miles. Replacement cost over $100,000. First $49,500 takes it.Ex-ERA 427 Owner - new convert to

The original owner spent $100K - not me. Like most of these specialty cars - the guy who originally builds it ALWAYS takes a loss. I'm the second owner and I'm selling the car for exactly what it was professionally appraised at recently.

Nice car. Congrats on having a great big check book !!! I still build my own. All the cookie cutter billet parts look really nice. I do like the Ford in a Ford concept. I don't know, guess I must just be jealous.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Can you put me in touch with the original owner? I want to build his next car. Of course I can't be expected to work at 20th century labor rates. But the bottom line doesn't matter if you give the customer what he wants.

It is a good looking car 33. If it's any help I think what set folks off here were your comments about "MOST Hotrods" that came off as pretty condescending. You can sing the praises of your car without running down others. I wish I could remember the name of the sage that commented "Promote yourself always, but never at the expense of another." It's something worth living by.
Good luck with your sale. At least your ad got a lot of attention, no such thing as bad press!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Thanks to Pat and Jordan for the nice words. My original description wasn't meant to offend - just to provide a pragmatic comparison to my rod to all the "cookie cutter" (Chevy engined/auto transmission/live axle rear end) rods out there. I literally had to search for over a year to find this car after seeing literally HUNDREDS of cars for sale that were configured as mentioned above. Yes - I am proud of this car - and yes - I've got my eye on the next "acquisition", but I won't tell anybody what it is yet - it's a secret!Ex-ERA 427 Owner - new convert to

Well it may be another billet rod, but Ive gotta hand it to you for keeping a Ford engine in Ford car and without resorting to an autonatic."its better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven."

Thanks Suede. Every time I go to a show people comment on how they wish they had put a Ford in their Ford - also may wish they had opted for the stick shift rahter than the automatic. i have been told that most builders chose automatics because they are much simpler to install.... that makes sense to me, but for the money a lot of these guys are spending on their rods, the extra $$$ for the clutch and shifter mechanisms seems to be a minimal incremental expense compared to the extra "fun" you can have with the car by being able to shift it!

Recent Upgrades - No Price Increase
Hey all!
I just spent $1500 putting a new custom exhaust on the car. If you look at the first picture in theis section you will see that the pipes used to hang down below the car -- and i didn't like that. Well...... I found a really good exhaust shop here in Portland that was willing to spend a whole day custom bending a hand made system to wind its way thru the frame and tuck the 2.5" alloy pipes and the new Flow Master 40's right up tight with the frame and completely out of sight! And..... you outta' here this thing now! Whew! Gives you chills even ad idle..........
Also - I took it to Aldridge Motorsports ( noted Ford Specialists for racing engines, etc) and had it "super-tuned" last week. The throttle response is INSTANT and WICKED now......... and the revs come Ohhhhh so easy! That cost me $1100........
And, with all these improvements I am still keeping the price at just $49,950.
Want to win shows? Wanna go fast? Wanna draw a crowd wherever you go? Then this is YOUR rod! Call me. BUY IT!Last edited by 33 hiboy; 08-01-2004 at 11:42 PM.

33 hiboy engine shot
Here's a shot of my new K&N Velocity Stack. Works great! Breaths so much better than other airfilter setup I used to have on it that the idle speed went up 200RPM after I installed it and the car wants to rev faster and higher than before!Ex-ERA 427 Owner - new convert to

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
