Well I thought about it and decided the v-8 bug would have to wait. Instead I am buildin a 28 coupe. Heres the beginnings.

hey looks like a cool progect keep us updated on how it turns out ok
Deciding between a bug and an A-bone would take me, oh, let's say, about .00000002 NANOSECONDS.
Jim,
Ben there, done it. You're in for a LOT of fun, a lot of work, and a few nights beating your head on the wall of your shop.
Nice to start with real tin, though.
Very nice metal! The chop is already done, but why do people fill in the roof when they could put green plexiglass in the hole and have a waterproof roadster? I guess the top hole is already filled in from the look of it. Good luck, it looks like great material for an all-weather rod!

Looks like you found some real nice tin to start the project with, Jim. Thanks for the pics......now I'm jealous !!!!!!
Well i got a chassis built upfor it
That was quick . . .
What've you got for suspension in the front? Split bones & leaf or coilovers? How about the back? Nice looking start - and I thought mine was low. Limbo, anyone?
Clue us in on your overall concept.
the suspension is all transverse springs.
The front is split wishbones, with the spring mounted to the bones. The rear is all model A, attached to a 49 merc rearend and a set of hairpins.:p :3dSMILE: :toocool:
Old school rocks!
Looks killer. I like the front spring idea. That sure cleans up the front view.
Tom
so whats the plans sell or keep? oh the decisions!!!
Jim,
That's starting to look like it's going to be one 7734 of a ride. I'm, with Henry Rifle. OLD SCHOOL ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!:)
Jimmy,
You bade dude. It looks great !
I still don't understand the Washington thing. . . .
That's really sweet man! Did you z the frame on that because it's pretty low? Looks really good. I wish I could find something like that out here.... They built a car like that on Rides show last night, it was a really good show.
Jim...It just looks AwEsOmE!!!!! Can't wait to see what'cha do next!!! Ooooooooh....and as always...I wanna know what color it's gonna be, it deserves somethin real special! he he he!!!
Sweet new Avatar you got there Jeri. That's sure a fire bird. Let me guess... flat black will be on this car? Or primer grey. :)
Rod,
The washington thing came down to fianaces. Its cheap to raise my kid here, the wife dont have to work and there are a lot of cars out in the woods to build. WB, its a seller. Im amassing parts to build me a 29 tudor, with a blown small block and all old skool.
As for the color, Im not sure.
If you are going to sell it then I would just leave it like that and let whoever buy's it paint it then. That's a great car though. I think I would take one of those over a T bucket... MAYBE!
Hey, Jim:
When you get it running, how'd you trade on a 55 F100?:) :) :) :)
What about a 1948 Chevy Coupe? Which one would you rather have, my Chevy or a Ford? heh Just messing, I wouldn't trade my car, I want to get mine all done and do everything from the frame up. I really like the way you have the front end sitting on that damn car though.
well if were throwing in cars to trade ive got a 2nd owner 70 chevelle ive been looking to trade for a 30ish model coupe orrat rod.
Jim, if it weren't so far out there from western Iowa, I'd offer a trade withou t it running, but the 55 F100 would have a 351 W and and auto, instead of the 390 W/3x cause tha(390) is what I'd like to put in the A-bone.:) :) :) :)
Trades are cool, but if i sell it , it will be to pay for health insurance for my family for next year. And I think the insurance co. will want cash.
Jim
I hear you there, Jim. Funny that companies like that don't want anything but your cash.
Hey Jim I seen the picture "got the motor in".So what engine trans combo did you go with?Is it running or you just got it set in their. It's comin along great and fast. Its looking just as cool and awesome a the rest of your projects.:toocool: :toocool:
The motor is a 1988 sbc 350, dressed up in an altered 62 vette dual quads, and a set of custom made Rocket valve covers.
Trans is a turbo 400
Thats why when I retired from the Navy I moved back to Texas. Couldnt deal with the high cost of low living in Kalifornia.:mad:Quote:

Love the look of chopped and channeled A coupes. I have built one chopped and channeled coupe, and one channeled roadster. They look real sweet, but when you get old and fat and full of arthritis, it just kills to set flat on your butt with your legs stuck straight out. Car ain't much good if it hurts to drive the dang thing. This time around I'm building a stock height, unchanneled roadster pickup. It don't look quite as slinky as the other 2 builds, but I bet it'll be more comfortable for a road trip.
this car has a stepped frame front and back. Its only channeled 2" even though it looks a lot more than that. It actually sits pretty nice inside, but I know what you mean. If you cant stand driven em, then why have em.
Ya. What he said. . . . . .
Check it out. I put it up on ebay, just to see whats gonna happen. The item # is 4504796430, just copy and paste the number into the search on ebaymotors.
There are some good pics, check it out.
Very cool. 13 bids already but not much money so far. I think it will bid up rapidly. It has the look and is a great start.
I don't know if anyone asked yet but what is the radiator shell off of?
BTW Corvettes stopped using dual 4s in 1961 with the last 283. All '62s were 327s with a single 4 except the fuelie.
Tom
The grill shell is from an old Hercules tractor. It has HERCULES POWER cast into it and is really cool.
Yea I think the dual intake is from an older vette. The guy I got it from said 62, but Im not a vette man.
Jim
Thanks. I can see some of the name in this picture. There are some cool grilles on some of these old tractors.
