Hotrod BUILD DIARY of 331 pages?

I figured that this would be the best place to post my progress this summer after recouping from 8 months in a wheel-chair... Aaaaaaak ! (no FUN)

I had to have my father-in-law carry me out to the garage and sit me in a lawn chair so I could weld and grind to get my mind off things or literally go NUTS from insomnia from doing NOTHING..

OK, WELCOME BACK! I guess I am one of the new guys while you were away but I know what you mean. I have spent some time on my back too and I am trying to build a '29 Ford roadster kit car while I can still enjoy it but you are further along since "I ain't got no body!", yet. I am still working on the brake lines but this Forum is GREAT! for practical help. Will that tub have a top (not easy) or just be for sunny days?

She will have two tops, one soft and one hardtop that comes off in the garage ONLY...

I am rounding-off the top rim area of the tub within a few days IF things work out...

This is actually an old pic.. last thing done was to repair the rotted rear lower bodyline with, Ahem.. Muffler pipe !

The 4 holes on the back are for frenched-in aftermarket 5" OD Corvette bubble-lights... as the headlights are 10" OD !!!

The end-hole you see here is for the amber marker lights just before the tires..

Making a roof cant be any worse than wire-forming the rear apron from scratch??

I have been watching this build for a couple of years now. Really impressed with the solutions you find and your ability to make what you need out of almost nothing. I'm glad your back and look forward to the next 331 pages!

Glad to hear you are back. I think you need some warmer weather down south. Come-on down to Va. Beach and teach me some of that experience you have with turning rusted metal into a thing of beauty.
Glad things are going better for you. I actually use my rod for the same therapy. Gmy mind off of work and helps me to crash like a baby. Sounds like your wife and family are gems too.

"I ain't got no body" yet but I saved a small amount of stock in an account that somehow did not get converted in my retirement roll over and it's still growing slowly. You and Brian Rupnow are doing amazing things with fabrication of your own steel bodies and I know it will be more satisfying for you to complete your own original than to buy a prefab, but my wife wants something that "looks like a car"! So I just bought a 700R4 to add to a mild SBC350 and a '74 Maverick rear in a Brookville Model-A frame with 4" Magnum dropped axle. It is up on wheels now and it looks like the stock is one of the few that actually grow (slowly) these days so when I get the driveline set up I plan to buy a Bebops fiberglass '29 roadster body, probably next Spring by cashing in that stock. About ten years ago I spent a lot of time on a '40 Ford convertible I tried to make from a rusted convert shell and a tudor without a floor. That was when I realized that I am not a body man so now I just stick to assembling parts I buy on a "part-of-the-month" plan, but I am making slow progress and hope to have the body next Spring.
