those with 33-34 ford x-member experience...
Im putting together a 33 ford chassis and was wondering who is using what for an x-member. i have american stamping rails and then went ahead and ordered their cross member. well, their cross member seems to be over an inch narrow and doesnt even come close to fitting inside the rails like it should. plus the welds look like heck and there are some places on the tubing they didnt even weld. My plan was to order one already done in order to save some time, heck i should have just made one from scratch as to fix this one from american stamping. Im talking about a x-member made from like 1.5 inch tubing also...
im also putting together a 32 chassis with american stamping rails but they have a guy in california making the cross members for the 32 and this thing is beautiful, fits just like it should, welds nice, and just over all good work."If it's not one thing, it's another!"

The Pete and Jakes tubular crossmember is terrific. I have one in my '34 project. I'm not sure they sell it separtely, but I'm guessing they do.

Mine is a little different from that one since my body is channelled.

Tubular X members are cool but I built mine from 1 1/2" x 1" rectangular tubing. I'm glad I used the rectangular tubing because I recently swapped from a 200R4 trans to a TH-350 trans and moving the cross member was a snap.
