Started clampin' stuff in place for the front suspension on the "Z" today
So, my question is can anybody tell me how much room I need to allow for a blower drive (Front of the block to front of the lower pulley)?. I'm figuring 2 pulleys behind the blower drive just to be safe. If I go with 1 belt at least measuring for 2 I'll know I have room. I have about 4" room in this picture but the block is already set back an inch. I've got the rack about as far forward as I can go. I'm making my own firewall, so my only setback limitation is the blower against the windshield glass
Closer shot of the clearance I have. 4" .....A belt is 3". I'm guessing I' need 5.5'' to 6.5" to clear the raack & still have room to get a belt on & off ????
Height wise the block will set about where it's at or possibly 1" to 1.5" lower.
pro, i think youll need 4" to 4.5" from the tip of the crankshaft. looks like you have 4.5 from the block. i dont have anything to go by right now but far as i know the belt pulley will be flush with the end of the crank and then the 3" blower pulley will bolt to that

I answered my own question.......
7.875" from the front of the block to the front of the pulley. Add an additional .7" for each accesory pulley.
7.875 - 7.876, whatever it takes to get the job done. I was gonna say to add .7" for each pulley too but you beat me to it.:DQuote:

Ya know, I was gonna say 7.8749, but I felt that would have been a bit too tight. Ya wouldn't want any little squeeks in the engine area, it's anoyin.:HMMM:Quote:

Hey Pro, does this mean you don't want to use my Big Block Blue Oval stroker motor I have setting in the shop??? C'mon man, nobody likes us pro-street builders anyhow, might as well get some Blue Oval power under the hood and P*** off anybody you might have missed!!!!! Tee Hee Hee

Geez Pro, I ain't scary. If I was, that was years ago and I've mellowed. Don't believe all the stories ya here.
Besides, it would be better to finish the car, make some passes and get the car sorted out so it hooks hard and goes straight, then we could apply a large dose of Blue Oval Thundering Big Horses and ya could really go fast!!!

Yup, that's wut' I'll problee' do. Accordin' to Art Morrison, I "CAN" move the rack ahead further too. Said it may even be better to avoid bump steer. So that, & a shoe horn i should be O.K. HE He HE:LOL:Quote:

But, If'n it were me doin' it in a '70 'MaroZ.. I'd install a fake crank stub and mount the pulley's then set the engine back to clear, seein's how yer buildin' yer own firewall and incorporatin' a 1/4 or 1/2" steel "Scattershield" into the tranny hump anywayzzzz...... :p
