that is a sweet looking ford. and i would also like to say welcome to spikeo
Lookin good Mr. Smith...I like the tail lights ;)
Spikeo is a new member who introduced himself on the previous page.
Thanks Bud. I hope I can do as good a job as your guy did with the lights. Do you know if he got them at Hagens? I tried to look at the pics you had posted of them but they had expired. I was trying to figure out how long to get them and where to position them.
Nice work Mr. Smith, I like the mid-30's cars too, very cool. Won't be long now and it will be painted.
Yes, I bought them from Hagen. I forget what size I ended up with. I printed off the templates for the three sizes and cut it out of red construction paper then positioned them then took it in for the hard part of the job. I am pretty sure I ordered the 12" ones. Yours look to be the same size. Keep up the good work! I was mostly afriad of screwing up the lense trying to get the right peak.

there is a shot directly from the back here, but the large view won't come up so I cant link it.
I didn't know you could print templates. I eneded up with 9". I put mine a lot lower trying to find the least curvature in the fender. It looks like the coupe fenders swoop down different in the back. Getting the peak is tricky and getting them the same is even harder. I hope I did both. The first fender I tried to use the mounting plate as a template and cut out the shape so I could just install the lens but that didn't work out so I ended up welding in the plate. I got a little smarter on the other side and made a template the size of the lens and cut it out. It took a little more time to cut out but if it looks the same on the car I won't have all of the welding to do. Did you guys glue your lenses in place? If so what did you use?
Thanks again.
I had them email me a file with the templates. yea it definately looks like my fenders swoop down more than your sedan fenders and on the sedan fenders the peak goes all the way through where as on the coupe fenders the peak flattens out. The coupe fenders might be a little easier to pull this off on because you can get away with being a bit off on the bottom and there's no peak to make it obvious. :D
I can't remember how the lenses are mounted as it has been close to two years now since they were put in. I thought they were mounted to the housings, but looking at your parts pics I am not sure how that is possible. I don't remember glue though. I'll try and take a look this weekend and let you know.
This looks really good; did you use welting when you mounted your rear fenders or are those welded on? The whole rear clip looks fantastic!
New guy here, just some pics of before and where it stands now

that is a good question 35fordcoupe are you using fender welting?
Got my tailights in. Not perfect but should be okay when the body work is done.
Nice progress, Joe. That's going to be a cool ride! I havent seen many of those late 70s early 80s Camaros around anymore.
