I pulled out on the st. behind my shop in Richmond late one night, had just put 2 new carb. on my blown 454 el comina, just testing some things and there was cars lined up on both sides of the st. so it wasn't room enough to get up any speed much, but I had to try it. when i went WOT the accel. hung wide open to my surprise, so there I was 600 HP, hung WOT carbs. on a narrow st. smoking the tires off and flying up the st., and didn't know what to do, but i had sense enough to cut the key off(and not lock the steering wheel) before I killed some one, and as soon as i stopped the accel. was not hung any more. so i went back to the shop and changed the angle of the carb. springs and made them a little tighter and like a dumb ass went back to the same spot and did the same thing again. couldn't believe it. that's when I found out if the carb. springs is not stiff enough and pulling at the proper angle a blower will pull the carb. WO when you get the accel. to about 50%. so pro put EFI on it and you want have to worry about that. the springs would have worked fine on just a 2 carb. set-up.Mike

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
