Man I agree! It truly is another form of armor!
I might try the spraying of it and see how well I do.

The silver POR-15 will turn a greenish hue after time. At least it did years ago when I used it on the Cobra build. I'm not sure if that's been corrected since then but just a heads up.

Yup, good stuff!!!! Works equally well as the "Phix" product that I usually use, but had to give the new stuff a try, too.... Nasty stuff though!!! Sure wish I would have waited for warmer weather and could have had the doors open in the garage!!!!!

Dave i heard it is best to wear a quality respirator when using one of these products . I have a old 3M thats been with me about 12 years hope i can still get filters for it .

Well good day today found the fuel pump after 10 yrs in a box , cleaned and installed ,found and cleaned distributer , I have the brake master sprayed with cleaner for tommorrow . oh also found the carb , hitting auto parts in morning for carb and master rebuild kits . This is it i've kicked my own self in the A^^ .

when it hit 50 a couple of weeks ago got to motor around the sub many times and get some time on the new engine and tranny. My first experience with a stall converter, think I love it. 3600 is what it seems to lock at, if thats the right terminology. BBC feels like the most powerfull engine I have ever had, cant wait to get her broke in and wind it up. Although with the gas prices up likely have to wrap up quarters to get some money for gas.
Just completed all new bushings in the rear, KYB shocks and new springs, lucked out on the ride height, its spot on. No more air shocks for me, cant wait to experience the fully new suspension. (front was completed last April, tie rods-ball joints-lowered springs-bushings-gear box-sway bar)

I have POR 15 for my frame, but I was wondering should I just spray the suspension pieces also or buy some paint for those pieces??

Jon, that is one gorgeous Elky!!!! All your extra time detailing and taking care of the "little things" has definitely been worthwhile!!!! Congrats on a very well done build!!!!!!

35, POR 15 would of course be more durable on the suspension pieces, just not much color selection.... I either have mine powder coated or use Epoxy Primer and some quality paint on suspension pieces. Probably depends more on "the look" you want....

I agree with Dave, your limited on color when it comes to Por-15. Durable, but on small stuff I have resorted to poweder coating or Imron.

Color selection on Imron is a lot better then POR 15, and it's very, very durable, too!!! Plus, it's a single stage application so you don't wind up wrapping up a ton of hours in getting them too look good....

If you can find the color you want in Imron, as 38 sez it is very durable!!!!

I agree Dave, I worked for Newell coach motor home company and we used it for a long time. I got to use it for 4 years until we switched over to 2 stage BASF. Great stuff!! Downside is if you have a imperfection its back to square one with that panel, or piece. We got good at working it, but having 2 stage is much more forgiving. I painted many parts with IMRON and they still are holding up today!

i'm not going for much color on the frame so the black por 15 should do fine depending on the finish. maybe i could spray some chassis black on for more gloss afterward...

Not too long afterwards.
The green duster lives and is on the road looking good and running strong. All that is left is putting the hood back on.
My El Camino got loaded up and shipped to the shop today so it should be running by the end of the day.

The Duster looks great! Sure do like the way it came out, the wheels really make the car I think!
