Camaro front end for 48 Pontiac
This is my first time in here and I'm not sure if this post is even in the correct place. But, here is goes.
I have a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner 2dr and I would like to put the front frame clip from a 78 Z28 in it. Does anyone know where to start?? I'm lost. Is this something I should take to the body shop and have them do it all? I hope someone in here can help me out.
comaro clip on 48 pontiac
i installed a nova clip on to a 48 chev. 1 body off frame . 2 measure and record exact wheel base. 3 remove front tires and cross member from original frame. 4 get frame perfectly level using jack stands and shims if needed. 5 roll comaro clip into frame making sure you have the exactly correct wheel base. 6 level comaro frame and mark cutting lines on original frame. 7 cut
original frame using a grinder and zip disk. 8 roll comaro frame back into place. 9 recheck wheel base and make sure evereything is square and sits the way it should. 10 weld frame into place.
ps. this is a lot of work and headaches and if i had to do it again i think i would opt to spend the money on the mustang 2 setup. with the clip you will have to fabricate front body mounts, fender brackets and you will run into lots of other problems. it did work out in the long run as my 48 is currently on the road. also if you are considering changing your rearend the comaro may be the exact same width the nova was and was a breeze to install.
good luck.
