Hello all, what do you think would be a good first car for a newby? What should I look for when I am considering a purchase?
I want to do this right.

Depends what you want. There are plenty of variables to consider....it has to be something that you like.
Economy wise, a Chevy is generally the cheapest to work on, parts wise.
BTW....change your screen name. That one belongs to my girlfriend.............lol

Regarding the question at hand....
Does a family member or shirt-tail relation have something that they might want to "donate to the cause"?
I think that I would pick a Chevy or Ford, something that you can find parts for easily, and that will be easier to work on...when I was in high school my dad bought me a 1965 Corvair Convertible, which I still have, but trying to find parts & someone to work on it was a real pain! Now that I've had it for quite a while, I can fix just about anything on it, and don't have to depend on someone else...
I know that this is probably not what you want to hear, but sometimes you've just got to be patient...you might not get a bitchin' car the first go-round. It all takes time, and money!
Just my 2 cents....**)
I think I dated the same girl Poncho. It seemed strange because she was a good looking girl but then I realized it was because her last name was St Bernard. :LOL:Quote:

Dog Face,
I would recommend an old Mustang for a first car. There are a lot of companies that sell Mustang parts and most of the parts are cheaper than a similar part for a new car.
buy a pontiac ;)

Well, the truth is, I AM a girl (not a dog-faced one, however - I have to give myself some credit.) The name comes from my intrest in breeding and showing german shepherd dogs.
Yes, I was thinking about a nova or a mustang -- chevy or ford it probably will be considering this would be my first actual car and I will want to be able to afford parts for it -- I'm just a young thing after all.
So, uh, I live in Pittsburgh - anyone have a car they're willing to let go of? E-mail me at AwfulOxblood@aol.com
Until then I'm browsing the classifieds.
Yeah ! Another Girlie! Welcome! :3dSMILE:
