how value changes over nite

I Just bought a 1947-1953 style Chevy trk. I paid $2200 for a non running rusty cab & unusable bed.
Before Chevy brought out the new SSR you could buy them for $1000.
The ugly duckling of today is the well sought after car(trk) of tomorrow.

I hear that Don, I have a neighbor that has a '73 Duster that 2 years ago he came to me wanting to sell it for $250.00, I talked to him yesterday and he wants $1000.00 for it now. Mopars are really climbing in value, why I don't know. I guess that street rodding in general has become big all over.:D

I guess worrying about ricers keeping hot rodding alive may have been overblown. Prices are going up because of demand. :) :) :)

Hey brick, it's because of all the closet Mopar lovers around here!! Yeah, they'll all deny it, but we know what's up!:p

My thread on that got wiped out during last weekend's crash, but the view count on my '64 Plymouth continues to outpace the others. That's proof enought for me!!:LOL:

Don, look on the bright side................now that you have one there'll be a real stampede for them!! I hope you can take the time to post some picks of the work you're going to do. I think the door and cab stretch would be of real interest to the guys here.

That wouldn't be a "Winnebego" would it?? Most bego's are on Dodge chassis...... and some chebbiez' too.

With the price of a new 4wd well equipped pickup or a luxury tourning sedan at $32,000 or more, Hot Rods in general appear to be more affordable to the folks with larger amounts of "disposable income". Just last week a college professor here in town bought a T-Bucket cuz he wanted something to have fun with that wasn't like everyone elses. As new car prices keep rising, we will see an increase in hot rodding. Just my observations.

All good points everyone, I may lean toward what Dave said about the price of toys now a days. If it wasn't for the ability of paying for it in small chunks at a time, I wouldn't have one either.

I have to agree that a $20,000.00 built street rod is very appealing compared to a $50,000.00 or more corvette or Viper. Insurance is cheaper too. The clean air thing isn't an issue around here but I bet it is to alot of you, I can see that too.

I find that people want something different than the cookie cutter cars that are available today. Why not pick up an old car/truck and modernize it, in most cases you will get a quailty ride for less money, plus we don't have the strict emissions law here but people are still building hot rods

Right on Streets.........one of the reasons all my vehicles are at least 20 years old, is cus I don't agree with this goddamn emission testing..............We are not the poluters, it's big business. Around here, the little guy gets tested, but the big trucking and bus companies don't have to.............not to mention the big factories etc.

I too have an older camper............77 Dodge maxivan conversion van.

Streets If its just rottin in the weeds I'll give ya 4 bucks plus the price of the fuel pump for it But I wants it to be detailed before delivery:LOL:
