Bent Frame?
I am looking into buying a certain 66 Chevy c-10. The price is $600 firm and it is in remarkably good shape, only very small areas of rust, no problem to fix at all. And it runs great and drives (I have seen him drive it, though I have not driven it myself). My olnly concern is that the bedsides dont like up with the cab lines. On the passanger side the bedside is about 1 1/2 inches out further than the cab, and it is in from the cab on the driverside (like it is sitting off center) Also on the passanger side, the bed trim is about a 1/2 inch lower than the cab trim.
MY QUESTION: Bent frame?? or (hopefully) just a bad (missing) bed-mount?? The $600 price tells me something is probably wrong because the rest of the truck is in good shape.
I dont want to put a whole lot of money into this truck, what would you recomend. - Besides measure to make sure the frame isn't bent.

Re: Bent Frame?
I would look to see if it "dog tracks" going down the road and if there is any unusual tire wear. Something is amiss. Look underneath the truck. If it's that far off you might be able to find the problem just by loking to see how things line up under the box/cab. Best way to tell would be to take it to a body shop and have it measured on an alignment rack.Originally posted by stevet47

Probably, the cab mounts are rusted out. Those trucks were bad for that.Home Handyman Forum
