Rear disc brake conversion help
I have a 8.5" 10 bolt GM rear axle from a 73-74 Camaro/Firebird. It has been adapted to mount on leaf springs. I will have a non-staggered shock set-up. Problem is, all aftermarket rear disc brake kits that fit the Camaro rear axle specify for staggered shocks. Kits I found using non staggered, will not fit my axle shaft flanges. What would stop me from using a kit for staggered shocks being this is not a stock set-up? Thanks.

If it is a staggered shock axle then that's the kit you need..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Its a right and left thingie--------could be that one side the caliper is to the front the other side to the rear-just like the shocks----------maybe you just need to get a different lower spring mount with the shock ear located different------------

I bookmarked that page...lots of useful stuff there, thanks. I'm using the leaf spring plates with lower shock mounts and the upper mounts from an S-10, both shocks to the rear. No kit for this set up so I'll use the drum brakes for now.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
