    *BRAD PENN Oil Substitute*

I have a 350 sbc with double hump heads, aluminum high rise with Demon 625 carb, nice cam, Sanderson headers connected to flow masters. I'm running Brad Penn SAE 20W-50 Partial Synthetic high performance oil in. This is what the previous own was running. I can not get the oil locally. What other oil would be a good substitute?

We buy are grocers there and I've looked while the wife is shopping. The Walmart ads you see online are just that...online purchases only.

Much of the stuff that's "Online Only" can be purchased for in store pickup at your local store, shipped in free with their normal orders. WalMart is trying to be the second Amazon.

There are flat tappet cams in both the 66 Mustang I gave my grandson and my 76 Vette and they both run Penz hi mileage and no additives. I rebuilt the 289 in the Mustang in 79 and put a healthy Comp cam in about 10 years ago. I will replace the cam in the Vette later this year and I'll zddp for break in and after that I'm not sure.
I personally think it's more to do with the quality of the parts and too heavy spring pressure than the lack of zddp.

The cam, lifters, and springs for the Vette are from Howard's. Them and Isky are about all that I trust.

The quart bottle the previous owner showed me did not say Green Oil. What is Green Oil?

On my flat tappet hemi cam from Isky, they name Brad Penn specifically for use, I have always used it and I would stick with it especially as many problems that have been seen, you can also get it on ebay pretty cheap. Best of luck

I started running Brad Penn in my pulling engines with the big lift cams to help prolong the life back in 06. The pros were recommending it and they still run it even with their high dollar roller set ups.

Ordered a case of the BRAD PENN 20W-50 oil today. Walmart and Amazon price was $85 a case and had free shipping but they both wanted tax & handling fees that pushed the price close to $100. Got it on eBay for $81.95 shipped.

I was giving $60 a case last year, I am sure its up from then but the guy I buy it from buys a semi load at a time and sells it at truck pulls, I went to the Nitro Nationals in Tulsa this past week, saw some serious nitromethane motors adding green oil in theres also. they make a 60 weight for the big blown motors, 85 bucks a case was fair, and you will have piece of mind. Best of luck

REALLY. Man in Evansville Ind. you are surrounded by dirt tracks. Lots of those guys run Brad Penn oil. I'm surprised you can't find it.

Got my oil changed today and something seems odd. Got the Brad Penn 20W-50 oil, Fram HP4 oil filter which is what I took off. I put 4 1/2 quarts in as I'm not sure how much the engine holds and that put it at the full mark on the stick. I started the engine to check for leaks. No leaks and good oil pressure so I let it come up to operating temp. The oil level is at the full mark when it was cold. I would have thought the oil filter would have taken at least 1/2 quart if not 1. After it warmed up the level was over the full mark. Whatya think? Wrong dipsticks??? I hate to overfill it.
