Moth Balls In Gas Tank

Was just thinking about back in the early days of drag racing,
I use to put a couple on moth balls in my tank on top of 93
octane Sunoco thinking this would help the octane. I quit using
them when I heard it may clog up carb and that it may actually
be a myth. Guess all of us old timers tried everything possible
in those days to go faster, even drilling out the jets, using 11"
truck clutches etc.
Still confused as to whether or not the moth balls did anygood**)
Been helping my son on his Camaro drag car, but never mention
about the old days much. Things sure have gotten better as far
as drag racing goes.

build the past few months.

Hmm, I have a mechanical injected diesel I could try this on. :LOL:

I do guarantee if nothing else it kept the moths out of the fuel system!

Been to many years for me to remember, I did have one of the fastest cars.
Bored out 1962 327 2X4 with all I could afford inside. Good gears helped to,
and my future father in law ran a machine and parts store.
Those were the days when you lined up and a man dropped the flag.
Raced mostly at Beech Bend, Bowling Green, Ky.
By the way I was in what they called D-Gas class.

Beach Bend is a nice track. I've raced there a few times. I've seen it under water severely one year too. :mad:

I still don't think that moth balls will be great in diesel. Even if you add some extra lubricity with them, I'm wondering how corrosive all this could become?
